The first team travelled to picturesque Hovingham hoping to take the points back home. The sun shone all day and with a perfect setting what a day it was to be for Niti.

After a warm up and the toss which George won and elected to field we had a team talk from Guy and set about the task in hand.

Niti and Ollie Riley opened the bowling with some tight overs, Ollie the first to strike. Niti didn’t have to wait long for his name in the book. With the opposition in trouble Toby Wells grabbed another wicket prior to a fighting 50 from the Hovingham number 6, a number of runs were managed between slip and gully, gully, third man and point. However, valuable runs on the board. After Eshaan had bowled without any luck young Ollie Walsh came on and once again did the job, taking 3/19, including a caught and bowled and lbw and an excellent stumping from George. Well done Ollie.

Hovingham all out 174. After an excellent tea, we batted. Opening with Guy and Mike Cole (back from injury) they didn’t fare too well as both fell – Mike caught behind and Guy clean bowled. George joined Niti at the crease 20/2 a poor start for TABS. However, the fireworks soon started as Niti pushed the score on with George supporting him.

The partnership went to 50 then 100 then 150, with George on 41 and Niti on 99 George was given out LBW, an excellent knock. Leaving Eshaan to join Niti seeing him to 100 not out with a single, terrific innings Niti. A huge 6 to win the match followed for Eshaan.

Top effort boys. 30 points in the bag. Thanks to Tim Wells for scoring Sam for umpiring and those who got juniors and themselves to the venue. It might be a fair way away from home but worth the effort as ever.

Celebrating started in the local pub and continued back at the Pax.

Keep an eye on the weather for mid week training.
